      a time to rest???

      fleece

      fleece

After a successful shearing day on Tuesday 5/21 the Campbell family gets ready for a crusie to the Bahamas! YAY NO... Boo. I was dreaming :( There is no time to rest. We have 72 bags of fleece to skirt and tumble then sell or ship to a mill to be made into awesome yarn or products... Also, we have a "few" projects going on... On Tuesday 5/28 a hole will begin to be dug for the HUAP (high use animal pad), this is a NRCS project to help with manure management Seeding has begun (Thursday 5/23) of 25 acres of orchard grass/hay pasture mix, (The BRAND new seeder broke (rusted?) and was fixed on Thursday) then comes fertilizer with the new sprayer! The well electricity has begun to be run, three electric poles were put in on Thursday - a shed needs to be purchased to house the well. "Cria watch" is in full force ;) Two alpaca are at New Bolton Vet Hospital ready to come home :) And, as always, we are promoting alpacas for sale and fleece for sale... -This blog entry is by Laura. Check back for entries from other Scotia Acres Family members! I noticed I hadn't written on the blog in almost a month! It HAS been an eventful month, which left little time to post... I forgot to mention a new chicken run was built and 5 chicks hatched from our first incubator attempt!! Another group of females, huacayas this time, went off farm for breeding in Kentucky. We are very excited about these cria!! One female had a jaw abscess and needed daily treatment, it was decided that she needed treatment from the New Bolton Vet Hospital and was transported there.... hmmm... what else?
