Let Us Help You Get Started in Alpacas

Our Story
Zodiac Ranch was established in 1990 as a breeding farm specializing in the beautiful Peruvian Horse. What began as a passion for quality animals and thoughtful breeding quickly grew into something much more. In 1997, we expanded our focus to include the rare Norwegian Buhund, a unique and intelligent herding breed.

Our journey with alpacas began in 2002, and from that moment on, we quickly built a strong and diverse herd. Today, Zodiac Ranch is proud to be one of the largest alpaca farms in Michigan, with a reputation recognized across the country for producing animals of exceptional quality.

We proudly raise both Huacaya and Suri alpacas, offering a wide variety of bloodlines, colors, and fleece types. Huacayas are known for their dense, crimpy fleece with a soft, plush appearance, while Suris are prized for their long, silky locks that hang in elegant strands. While we take pride in seeing our alpacas—our little “stars”—excel in the show ring, our greatest satisfaction comes from knowing they are also cherished companions.

A Family Effort
Zodiac Ranch is a true family operation. Chad Parks plays a vital role in the day-to-day care and management of the herd, ensuring the farm runs smoothly year-round. Audrey Parks represents the ranch in the show ring, actively exhibiting alpacas and showcasing the strength of the breeding program. Together, their dedication continues the ranch’s tradition of quality and excellence.

Guidance You Can Trust
We were fortunate to learn from experienced breeders when we were starting out, and that spirit of mentorship continues today. Whether you are new to alpacas or expanding your herd, we offer honest advice, practical education, and ongoing support every step of the way.

Experience the Farm
Each summer, we open Zodiac Ranch to the public during our Open House events. Guests can meet the alpacas up close, take photos, and enjoy a relaxed, hands-on farm experience. We also host educational seminars and offer interactive visits and birthday parties that create lasting memories.

Supporting the Next Generation
We are proud to support youth education through our work with local 4-H alpaca clubs and students from Oakland Technical Center. Through hands-on learning, we teach alpaca care, handling, and farm management.

Our Passion for Fiber
Our love for alpaca fiber extends beyond the farm through our family business, Back to Back Fiber Products. As the original manufacturer of Pacafil Inside™ alpaca blend quilt batting, we have traveled across the country sharing the unique qualities of alpaca fiber through demonstrations and interactive projects.

More Than Just Alpacas
At Zodiac Ranch, it’s the connections that matter most. You’re not just purchasing alpacas—you’re becoming part of a community built on knowledge, support, and a shared love for these incredible animals.

Check Out Our 2026 Babies

We are incredibly excited about our 2026 cria crop! This year’s babies represent some of our strongest pairings yet, with many sired by and out of multiple Color Champions. We have a beautiful range of colors and genetics hitting the ground, and the quality is already showing.

Be sure to keep an eye out as more crias arrive throughout the season—we’re expecting several standout additions to the herd. These babies will be available for reservation, with the opportunity to join your farm after weaning. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this exciting group.

Norwegian Buhund Puppies Available
We also have Norwegian Buhund puppies available. Come meet this unique and rare herding spitz breed and experience their intelligence, loyalty, and charm firsthand.
