Plateau Breeze Ranch in God's Country

Plateau Breeze Ranch is a family run business, located on five acres in Southern California at an elevation of 2,500 feet. In 1994, Marc and I made the move to Murrieta, CA. knowing that we needed to move our four young children out of the city and into the country. We loved the mountain scenery, city views and the full range of winter and summer recreational adventures that Murrieta had to offer. To the east were the city lights of Temecula, famed for superior wineries, and to the west, sat Camp Pendleton. At a lower elevation, Murrieta enjoys a predominately dry climate with mild summers and winters due to the ocean influence which is 18-miles as the crow flies. Sunny days, breezy afternoons, and cool nights characterize the weather.

Our property was perfect for our family except for the forgotten land on the west side of the five acre parcel which was unusable acreage. Our dreams started developing. We knew it wouldn't be a vineyard or planted with fruit trees since most of the land was solid rock and hillside. We pondered our options when an advertisement appeared in the local newspaper. One of our neighbors needed to disperse her herd of alpacas. We knew nothing about them, but it seemed to be a perfect fit. Five pregnant females could fill the barn and roam the pasture, both of which we did not have.

Marc's experience in land development and custom home building allowed him the opportunity to lay out the plan and put the bulldozers to work. We worked day and night on our new dream while our newly bought alpacas waited for their new home. It was a full transformation. What was once an abandoned pond with wild brush growing alongside it became the area for the pasture. A pad was flattened and the barn build.

From the very beginning, we began making purchases and breeding decisions that would allow us to build a herd of elite-fleeced alpacas. We wanted alpacas that would pass to their offsprings good health, superior conformation, lasting fineness, density, and uniformity in their fleece. We were preparing our herd not only to be competitive in the show ring but profitable in the developing fiber market. Our goal of excellence and herd advancement has been achieved with every breeding decision we make. This pursuit has allowed us to create an award-winning ranch with animals proven to be competitive in the industry.

We have had the honor of being awarded the 2020 AOA Vintage Breeders Cup. Our champion herdsire, PBR Divine World's Bellagio, also won Champion at the 2020 ABR Fall Festival for Light Color and a second Champion at AOA National Show for Light Male Color. He achieved (3) 1st place the same year for Light Juvenile, Best brightness/crimp and AOA National's Beige Male Juvenile. We are so proud of his accomplishments and look forward to his 2021 achievements.
