Product Description
Class Description:
This is the practical application of Fade Theory. Know what fade is, be ready to try. Knit the fade method created by alternating colors and rows, knit with only one color per row. This creates the signature blended watercolor look.
Conduct a Fade Experiment during this hands-on lab. Bring your equipment, your needles, yarn and ideas. Start with your hypothesis (your fade colors), conduct the experiment (knit your mini-fade), review the results (do you like it? Why or why not?).
With your fade palette, follow along and go step-by-step to choose your mini-fade colors. Then we’ll start the experiment. As you knit, we'll talk about the best stitch patterns for fades and why. The best way to test your fade colors, before and during knitting. How to save your fade and troubleshoot. Learn how to add a fade colorway to a single-color pattern.
Homework: Completely Optional
Do a quick search. “Knit Fade Patterns or Projects”, notice what comes up. Write down questions (so you don’t forget) and ask during class.
Bring any of your fade inspirations to class; a pattern, a skein of yarn, an image with colors you like.
Materials needed for class:
We are knitting a mini-fade during class. Bring yarn, needles, your notions bag.
Yarn: Gather your fade palette. Bring small amounts of a variety of colors in the same yarn weight (like fingering weight yarn). Using what you have; remnants and partial skeins are great, pre-wound and ready to knit.
Needles: Bring the needles best suited for your fade palette and your knitting gauge. (If your fade palette is fingering weight yarns, bring US 1-3 (2.25-3.25mm) needles.
