This boy is everything we dreamed about in color. His sire Huckleberry, the 2012 Futurity dark Herdsire of the Year, has been a revelation for us in dark color. Huck as we call him is a double Bruxo son who we campaign for Jack and Kelly Armstrong of the Latah Creek fame before the herd was sold to the Brearley's in WA. In only his first year of production for us Huck has had an incredible impact producing champions and ribbon winners. Sumbawa's dam, Pucara Sonata, is our favorite colored female and produces beautiful ribbon winning cria.

Sumbawa shows off an incredible amount of greasy lustrous fleece for such a fine micron. As a yearling he did very well in the show ring but more importantly for us we're waiting anxiously for him to get his breeding started in 2013 because his genetics both sides of the equation make sense that he will be an impact stud for us.

Sumbawa is growing out splendidly now. He was small as a juvie due to the tremendous amount of fleece he was carrying but now he displays a robust square frame, solid bone and a stunning head. All black points! You'll notice by his show results that as he grew he achieved better results.

We're very proud of this boy who we believe will go on to become a very important herdsire for us our our clients that choose discerningly to use the best. As an indicator his EPD's show a lot of potential.

Makana represents the combination of the best lineage from Pucara International with the best in the US via Moon Rivers Durango. Makana's fleece sports a fine micron with a slick hand indicative of the density that she has. She is holding a 20.9 micron at 8 years of age!

Makana's 2010 dark brown female cria from Chakotah was a stand out. That cria sported fabulous fiber with a dense, fine, ropey fleece and outstanding luster. Her 2011 white female cria was sold at the Suri Showdown auction. Makana's 2013 cria sired by Chakotah's Wyuna is as good a colored suri cria that Pucara International has produced. Her 2014 cria out of Wyuna's sire, Chakotah, the Dark Futurity Herdsire of the Year 2013, is an equal standout. Makana was bred to Pucara Sur-Real Sumbawa and had a beautiful lusterous 2015 dark brown female cria.

Description

Petra is the stunning dark mahogany brown offspring of 3X Champion Pucara Surreal Sumbawa (the 2012 Futurity Champion) and champion producing dam, Pucara Makana, who is in the 2017 top 1% EPDs for fiber traits. Makana's fleece sports a fine micron with a slick hand indicative of the density that she has. She is holding an 18.9 micron at 9 years of age.

Petra is a Durango granddaughter, through her dam side and exhibits the best of Durango and MaGyver genetics.

Petra's dark lustrous fleece is very fine with great density in the lock. Slippery and cool to the touch with fabulous luster, she demonstrates the ultimate Suri fiber phenotype. Her frame is solid with good substance of bone exhibiting excellent conformation characteristics.

Petra won Color Champion and First place at the 2016 Alpaca Breeders Invitational show as a shorn yearling competing against never shorn alpacas. She also won First and Reserve Champion in color class of 16 at the competitive 2016 GWAS show. Her fiber is so dense that we chose to shear her as a juvenile. Her regrowth of beautifully deep, lustrous mahogany fleece is stunning.

Dr. Norm Evans' 2017 biopsy reports states Petra's density is 54.25 follicles SQMM. Her S/P ratio is 11.9 to 1 and she shows level 4 of 4 gland presence. Her micron spread between average secondary and primariy fibers is only 8.8 micron.

In May 2018, Petra had a stunning dark chocolate brown boy sired by 12X Champion Midas' Black Ice. This male has an extremely dense, fine fleece fully covering his strong frame. He fully expresses his champion genetics from both his sire and dam.
