Saona Rose is the first classic rosegrey we had ever produced here on the farm and what a female she has been for our program! Winner of multiple CC and RC ribbons, with the most memorable one as a juvie coming SOOOOO close to even winning the Supreme Female title (equivalent to Judge Choice in Canada). The judge hesitated, came back to see her a couple of times, comparing her to the white and fawn CC and finally gave it to one of the solid light female. We had never seen a classic grey come...

Classic Grey!!! (Well it didn't come as a major surprise but we are truly excited to have some type of proof lol!)

At first glance, you would think this is just another light colored alpaca but in reality he is quite possibly an extremely light classic rosegrey! He was born with a very faint tuxedo marking which was certainly passed down by his dam Saona Rose, one of our most decorated classic rosegrey female. His sire is none other than Snowmass Pure Reserve XX, one of the most prepotent sire to be imported from the US (now in Germany).

As a cria, we could already tell his fleece was special! It showed great structure with tight bundling and just amazing overall density. As his second fleece is coming in, we are getting even more excited for this guy! The fineness, density, organization and uniformity of micron is impressive when looked at it from a grey perspective.

We will also have him genotyped in 2023 to take the guessing game out of the equation...stay tuned!
