Mountain Sky Ranch is excited to announce the purchase of Snowmass Matrix from Double "O" Good Alpacas.

Snowmass Matrix is truly one in a million. He is the finest fleeced, highest curvature son of Snowmass Quechua standing in the world. This amazing stud won Reserve Herdsire of the Year for both LIght and Dark in 2008 with only 11 entries! In 2009 he won the Dark Herdsire of the Year and Light Reserve Herdsire. And in 2010 he repeated as Dark Reserve Herdsire of the Year.

The Matrix genetics added to the Mountain Sky Ranch breeding program will be priceless. Combined with the reserve stud females residing here, Matrix will put our alpacas to the top of the elite animals found anywhere in the world.

Matrix is a compact, robust and well proportioned stud. He has a fleece that extends its superior qualities over his entire frame. Snowmass Alpacas describes his fleece as a Merino x Vicuna style of crimp. He has a bit more organization in the expression of crimp than a true vicuna but a very high frequency of crimp indicative in the vicuna qualities. Most importantly, this stud exhibits an extreme fineness, brightness and consistency of fineness which is seen in the extension into extremities. He has held these qualities as he has aged which is exactly what we are looking for and breeding for.

Matrix's breedings are being offered for a limited time at a unheard of price as a celebration of this purchase. Once these limited number of breedings are gone, he will be restricted to our clients only!

Snow Diamond Chile Amor 1 is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime kind of alpaca! We saw her at Snow Diamond in the summer of 2019 and I could never get her out of my mind. She went on to win her first Judge's Choice win at the American Alpaca Showcase that fall and I wasn't a bit surprised. But imagine my surprise when she showed up in my barn as an early Christmas present from my husband that December! Best Christmas present ever!

Thor Farms Inara Amor by Matrix has a stacked pedigree that speaks for itself. We had high hopes for the pairing of our 2020 Supreme Dark Champ Chile Amor to the incomparable Snowmass Matrix, but Inara has exceeded our expectations. She has a beautiful phenotype with an impressive fleece style. Her fiber is buttery soft, bright, very fine and incredibly uniform across her blanket and into both her hip and shoulder area. She ticks all of the boxes for a solid foundation female. Add her to your show string for next year and expect to bring home some banners. After all, her dam Chile really proved herself in her second year and we think Inara will too!

Comments from the judges have been “very well grown-out for her age, next generation fleece style, excellent fineness, incredibly uniform across the blanket and into the hip and shoulder, impressive density in relation to fineness.”

Inara comes with a non-transferable breeding to any of our herdsires. Our recommendation would be either PacaParadise Amerikan Hero or our newest addition to our herdsire row, 2x Judge’s Choice winner Crescent Moon’s Paulinus (proudly co-owned with Crescent Moon Ranch).
