Splendor of the King

Suri, Bred (Female), Unproven | Dark Fawn

AOA#  36233847   D.O.B. 7/10/2023 (3 yrs)

Sire:
Kiss of the King
| AOA# 35103882  | Beige  |
How could one be smitten since 2 weeks of age? Especially when you are a grey fleece fan and his color doesn't typically excite you. He is that beautiful! We encouraged others to get their eyes and hands on him and in doing so, it landed his sire more dates. We nearly drooled over this guy when the breeze caught his fleece. This guy's dam, Kisu, name means "kiss" in Japanese so we thought we would come up with a name with kiss. Hence, Kiss of the King (though I could just about kiss myself for making this breeding decision) When we were going through our breeding options we decided to forgo a nice full Accoyo breeding & try for a linebreed on Kahuna with the beautiful sire, OTN Peruvian Yukon. "Pucara Kahuna" for those that aren't aware, was herdsire of the year numerous years. His dam, Kisu is a Kahuna daughter and his sire Yukon is a Kahuna grandson. We have seen first-hand the genetic jump that can be given to offspring of a linebreed. We anticipated his genetics would deliver favorable results in future generations.

Early on, at a judging event, Dale Davis remarked he was a little small in size but if I had a photo of her expression when she got her hands on his fleece - a big, wow! His fleece score card got excellent marks across the board with an emphasis on lovely luster and an added note to "Show" with exclamation mark(s)!! At his first show the Nationals we were actually happy to get a 6th place while other beauties from long time breeders left the ring without any ribbon. He was still on the smaller side and the judges comments were really only that he needed more time to grow. The following show King took a first place and Color Champion in halter and also a Championship in walking fleece! Both judges said "well done" after examining him. I literally jumped up with excitement when he got Champion because I had seen his competitors up close. His fleece regrowth after shearings does not disappoint and he grew up so sturdy.

We participated in the Suri Herd Improvement Program and the evaluator affirmed his show record, perfect scores in conformation, maximum or top scores in most all fleece categories and she commented that his luster looked just a notch above some other top dazzlers on the ranch. His 2018 histogram 19.7 micron with a 4 SD & 2019 he was 23.6 AFD 3.8 SD 16.2 CV with a noted positive of very little variation in length.

King had his first cria who surprised us being a pinto pattern from a fawn dam that had white markings but what a beauty! We decided to add more to his dance card and even rolled the dice with one of our lovely grey girls. We think he really shined through, literally. What a gorgeous guy he had with our silver grey girl Lilac. Summer 2023 he has produced two females, a lovely looking light fawn and dark fawn or light brown.

King is currently underutilized with our predominately grey herd. Don't hesitiate to contact us.

Dam:
AWH Storm Front's Lacey
| AOA# 32797619  | Dark Brown  |
AWH Lacey has always been darling with a soft black muzzle and super SHINY dark brown fleece. Her luster comes from her wonderful sire AWH Storm Front and the dark, rich color from her beautiful MacGyver/Mahogany Prince mom, La Petite Sirah.

We just love the color and the feel of this girls fleece. Our daughter had pointed out Lacey out of all the ones she remembered on the ranch. So we were quite happy when given the opportunity to snatch her up. As she developed she began looking more show-worthy. When Lacey showed the first time, I was taken a bit by surprise when she took a 1st place. I think surprise was from the fact that not only was she in the ring with winners from previous shows, but the fact that the judge didn't seem to give her a 2nd look over. We surmise that is because she was an obvious winner to the judge, who's comments were great conformation and fluidity of movement along with luster & fineness. She then took a Reserve Championship and later a 2nd at the Great Western Alpaca show with comments from the judge of great fineness, luster and density just lacking a little in substance of bone. Next season she showed at the California Classic in which she finished off her show career with another first place and nice remarks from the judge! Fleece at 22.1 microns in this rich of a dark brown, with astounding luster!

Besides being an award-winning female, she is a sweetheart. She truly loves being a mother and doting on her babies. While, we had no guarantee what she would produce breeding to our rose grey GLR Armani. She had one with a few freckles on her nose and legs. We did a repeat breed and had a solid fawn in color she has the nicest fleece yet.

We will see about how the fleece develops compared to the one born this summer. Lacey just recently blessed us with her fourth girl in a row sired by our 2X Champion Kiss of the King.

Lacey is one of our favorites for her fleece, temperament and her offspring.

Description

This girl's dam, Lacey was our first Reserve Champion and was such a wonderful producer. She blessed us with not only a fourth girl in a row, but a truly splendid looking one. Naming her Splendor of the King since she was sired by the 2X Champion Kiss of the King.

She has a very sweet demeanor like her mom & also on the smaller side in height, but nicely proportioned and a better chest capacity likely from her sire. Her histogram did not come in quite as well as what I expected but we may have not sent in the best sample site. Either way a 21 micron at 2 and just over 5 in SD indicating uniformity is certainly a nice processible fleece she is carrying.

She just bred March 2026.
