At three years of age, he showed density of 65.76 follicles per sq mm, an S/P average of 11.8, and a micron spread of only 4.2! At 3 years of age, his AFD was 22.5, and he has retained a lustrous wave to twist lock throughout his years on the farm. His 2026 EPD rankings put him in the top 2% for AFD and the top 1% for SD.

Her two girls - Sophie and Sadie are both producers for us and Solaris is now in our herdsire line-up. Her fourth offspring - Socks - is not yet weaned but we fully intend to show him 2026. Sofina produces silky, well locked offspring with narrow P-S spreads - something so important in the production of high quality yarn.

Description

Sophie is out of one of our favorite girls - Salt River's Sofina, who we just sold - and our herdsire Shining Armor. She definitely got her "daddy's" fleece traits. She scored 18 out of 20 for luster at the 2023 Suri Network Fleece Show, and her skin biopsy results support the score of 14 out of 15 that she received for fineness and handle:

2023 biopsy results:
Density - 52.25
S/P Ratio - 13.3
P-S spread - 6.0 (25.0-19.0)

2026 EPD rankings:
AFD - 3.18
SD - 1.54

While we didn't run a histogram on her in 2023, her biopsy results indicate she has retained her fineness into adulthood. Plus, we graded her fleece in 2025 and have her in the 23-25 micron range (Grade 3)

Sophie gave us a very nice girl - Susie Q - in 2024 out of our herdsire Firecracker and Susie’s EPDs just came in at 1.13% for AFD and 3.45% for SD! In 2025, Sophie delivered an outstanding male out of our newly acquired herdsire Raynay's Larence by Tempo. We look forward to showing him in 2026 if his fleece continues as it is! We have re-bred Sophie to Larence for a 2026 cria.
