Poseidon developed nicely as a juvie, the fleece/luster was fierce then he grew a bit. To this date the most advanced fleece on a boy we have seen in a while. It oozes luster, the handle is like silk. The density is deceptive as he is so fine. We don't often go on about locking very much but he was covered in thick flat locks head to toe.
So why is it so? None other than genetics that were allowed to show their best from a healthy up bringing! You would have noticed he is the product of careful, not too close line breeding which sets genetics and in this case blossoms into an elite expression of suri traits. Poseidon represents a carefully planned family tree with the dam Mandalay also being the paternal great grand dam. We were setting the genetics so there is less room for variation in future generations.
His mother, Mandalay, produced Tikanui and she produced Tikanui's full brother TSSS Kahuna's Jet Stream who was exported to the UK along with Poseidon's sire, Pucara PureSuri Ice King. These two boys were purchased by Nick Harrington Smith ( UK Alpaca Stud now Alpaca Evolution) and Mary Jo Smith from Bozedown, two of Europe's most discerning and successful breeder/judges.
The success of these lines comes from inputs from Kahuna, Ganador, Uribe, Bruxo, Macgyver's dam Augustina. He is destined for stud work and its not often you just know a boy has a positive chance of making significant gains in any breeding program.
