our stunning yet gentle herd bull...

HPY Thor Y052 (at HCC)

Bull (male)Royal
IYAK - Foundation# Y052, WHYC# Y052DOB: 7/13/201114 yrs
Thor has been a fabulous addition to the genetics of our herd. He is tame and gentle and passes that onto his offspring as well. His pedigree includes such greats as Dreadlock, Wooly Bully (import) and Queen Allante (import). He is 3/4 wooly so he adds a little fiber to his offspring as well. Thor is an 'Imperial- Royal' meaning he can throw an Imperial Trim which has the black nose. Thor is quite easy to 'work', he LOVES to be brushed and is quite cooperative in the squeeze chute and head gate. We feel very lucky that he trusts us so much...nothing like the love from a gentle giant!

beautiful N-Trim with surprise pedigree

HCC Yenna R076

Cow (female)Native Trim
IYAK - Foundation# R076, WHYC# R076DOB: 9/4/200817 yrs
Yenna was a pleasant surprise when purchased at 6mo. old with her pregnant Royal mama (I42 Yosie) from a MT. rancher getting out of Yaks. Too bad Yosie's lineage was not documented...she was a nice looking Royal. Luckily Yenna's sire SBR 0117 (Hank) has a great history...he is a Dreadlock son which goes back to Wooly Bully who was imported from Canada with the original group of yaks coming to the US. Yenna herself is half wooly, quite large, a very pretty girl who had grown very attached to us. She has given us tons of fiber and numerous gorgeous calves with both Sherpa and now Thor. She is worth her weight in gold here at HCC...please see the info on her daughter Yarrow A033...a miracle in our eyes.

Here at High Country Critters in Black Forest we have been raising Full Foundation IYAK Registered Tibetan Yaks since 2001. IYAK registration (only $45.00) is crucial in the resale value of yaks and the sales of their offspring, not to mention proof of parentage or inbreeding. Unregistered animals have the value of 'meat animals'. I like to research pedigrees to assure we are not contributing to inbreeding. We create herds that can be resold in the future and all of the offspring can be registered as well to bring the best price possible.

There are ZERO hybrids in our bloodlines, all yaks go back (on paper) to the first ever imported into the US. We have a small herd of 8 adults and can pet, scratch and brush all of them. Our calves are imprinted the day of birth and are used to the human touch, scratches and brushing often each day. We collect the yak fiber each spring and have sold out every year due to excellent quality.

HCC YADEN MADE IN CHINA was born 3/30/23 and is for sale at $2200.00 he is a gorgeous Native Trim and going to be a massive bull, His pedigree goes back 6 generations to Sargent Pepper (C101) who was imported and was the first yak ever registered with IYAK! He has great lineage on both sides...a true asset to any breeding program! His mama Melissa (Z053) is very sweet, a Native Black and papa Thor (Y052) a Royal is a gentle giant (see picture), Yaden truly likes people, he will seek us out for attention and... he lays down if you scratch his ears!

Yaden is IYAK registered, wormed, weaned and vaccinated and ready for pick up or delivery now. We will deliver for free within a 150mi. radius or meet and do a trailer-to-trailer swap. We can create a breeding pair or a starter herd with the help of other nearby ranchers. Heifer calves that are to go with him can even be brought here to be weaned with him, so they know each other prior to delivery.

Once a deposit is received (25%) you will get my 5+ page Yak Care Guide and other nutritional articles on yaks. Please call (719-495-9155) or email Lynda...no texts please

*** All our adult yaks are registered with WHYC, so Yaden can be too***
