DOB: 5/5/20224 yrs
If Violet hadn't given me a lovely buckling out of a very fancy Pearl son, I don't know what I would have done! But Violet came through! And this boy is something else... His rump is soooo big and square, and he has great feet! I just love him. Phoenix and Bravo will be my new main herd sires, and should enable me to not only breed my own goats for years to come, but also all of the lovely does that I've sold that come back for driveway breeding each year. I'm so happy with him! Sale note: I got rid of Phoenix because he was a turd. He acted like a toddler playing "I'm not touching youuuuuu" anytime I told him not to do something, and it drove me CRAZY. His daughter isn't like that at all, luckily!

Charm

SaanseyDoe (female)Gold
DOB: 3/16/20215 yrs
Charm's aunt, Treasure, was one of my favorite goats of all time. Excellent milk production, perfect teats, large orifices, and a sweet personality. Unfortunately she passed away from a freak case of listeriosis last year, so my best friend said that I could have a daughter out of Treasure's twin sister and my sweet Timbre. Thank you Angel!! Charm freshened with a picture-perfect udder that's very easy to milk. Her FF production wasn't what I was hoping for (a steady 5lb a day), but she was a yearling and we noticed that she was also growing an incredible amount of bone (her legs are thicker than any of my older girls!) so dried her off early and gave her some more time to grow. And it worked!!! She has freshened with an even deeper body, a perfectly balanced udder, and is giving us almost a half gallon of milk a day WHILE feeding twins! I cannot wait to see what we get when those babies come off her... Sale note: Charm was doing a gallon a day, but as a second freshener it just wasn't enough to make up for last year, so I sold her to a good friend. Her daughter is doing nearly a gallon a day as a first freshener!

If you want a long story sometime, ask me about the Pearl Curse! Long story short, Pearl was an amazing Saanen milker with an obnoxious personality. I kept her progeny for years and years trying to get a baby WITH her production and WITHOUT her bratty attitude.

After a couple dozen failures on that front (EVERY baby either had bad production or a bad attitude), I finally gave up on the idea right before Chance was born. And since Chance is actually line bred on Pearl, there was zero chance that I was going to keep her. Zero.
But I didn't have anybody to sell along with her (I try to sell in pairs), so I waited, because she wasn't any trouble. A few weeks later, she still... Still wasn't any trouble... In fact, I actually really liked her... She never made a peep, was never pushy or rude or annoying. Somehow, a Pearl baby managed to be the sweetest and quietest kid of the year.

I am dyyyying to see if she gets the production!! She probably won't. But gosh she's just the sweetest baby.

**Update: So far her production is mediocre! shocker.
6lb a day, and my bare minimum to keep a doe is 7lb. So Chance is for sale, but somehow I suckered myself into keeping her polled daughter out of Bravo.
57th time's the charm, eh?
