our stunning yet gentle herd bull...

HPY Thor Y052 (at HCC)

Bull (male)Royal
IYAK - Foundation# Y052, WHYC# Y052DOB: 7/13/201114 yrs
Thor has been a fabulous addition to the genetics of our herd. He is tame and gentle and passes that onto his offspring as well. His pedigree includes such greats as Dreadlock, Wooly Bully (import) and Queen Allante (import). He is 3/4 wooly so he adds a little fiber to his offspring as well. Thor is an 'Imperial- Royal' meaning he can throw an Imperial Trim which has the black nose. Thor is quite easy to 'work', he LOVES to be brushed and is quite cooperative in the squeeze chute and head gate. We feel very lucky that he trusts us so much...nothing like the love from a gentle giant!

KA Yahoo Bloo T081(at HCC)

Cow (female)Royal
IYAK - Foundation# T081, WHYC# T081DOB: 8/3/201015 yrs
Yahoo Bloo was a 'must have' after we lost her famous grandfather Sherpa H100 in 2012 at the age of 14. We were never able to part with Sherpa, so we never kept any of his daughters while he was alive. Once gone, we purchased our current bull Thor Y052 and began buying some of Sherpa's granddaughters to keep his tame and gentle bloodlines going. Breeding these girls to Thor has worked out very well, we are able to combine some of the very old lines with some of the newer lines and get the best of both worlds. Yahoo was a great mama and was known to throw extremely friendly bull calves!!! We needed to part with Yahoo in Sept. of 2025 at the age of 15, she was unable to have any more calves and one horn had dropped to almost eye level (a sign of old age). She had been through a lot in her life; she battled and won over EHD at the age of 2 (before we got her) and while here gave us 11 wonderful calves that all went on to be breeding stock for other ranchers. Her lines go back to our very first yaks purchased in 2001.

Yamu La Rue, is the name of this little guy here at High Country Critters, all calves get a 'Y' name which has been our trademark for 23 years! He was born here 5/19/24 to our Yahoo Bloo T081 who is a Sherpa H100 granddaughter. The Sherpa lines have proven to produce kind gentle yaks, especially bull calves' generation after generation. We strive to keep those lines going since Sherpa died in 2012

Yamu's sire is our Thor Y052... him and Yahoo produce pretty boys! Thor is a massive, gorgeous royal who loves to be scratched and brushed. Thor's pedigree goes back to the original yaks that were imported into the US. Thor is 1/2 wooly, so he adds some fiber to each calf.

Yamu is a social, friendly boy who enjoys a good head, ear & butt scratch, He will stand for light brushing with a Slicker. Yamu is DNA tested, registered with IYAK (and can be with WHYC) as a full foundation yak w/GeneSeek data... he has ZERO CATTLE ALLELES. He vaccinated wormed, weaned and ready to go! All buyers will receive a 5+ page Yak Care Guide once a 25% deposit has been paid. We will be here to help you for the life of your yak.

Remember...we can create a breeding pair or even a little starter herd, I work with several other CO. ranchers to make your dreams come true. We deliver within a 150mi radius or can meet and move from trailer to trailer. Please email or call Lynda at 719-495-9155. I do know of two wooly yearling heifers that could go with him.

***NOTE, all our breeding adult yaks are registered with WHYC as ' Heritage yak'...so all of our calves can be registered with them too! ***
