HPY Thor Y052 (at HCC)

Bull (male)Royal
IYAK - Foundation# Y052, WHYC# Y052DOB: 7/13/201114 yrs
Thor has been a fabulous addition to the genetics of our herd. He is tame and gentle and passes that onto his offspring as well. His pedigree includes such greats as Dreadlock, Wooly Bully (import) and Queen Allante (import). He is 3/4 wooly so he adds a little fiber to his offspring as well. Thor is an 'Imperial- Royal' meaning he can throw an Imperial Trim which has the black nose. Thor is quite easy to 'work', he LOVES to be brushed and is quite cooperative in the squeeze chute and head gate. We feel very lucky that he trusts us so much...nothing like the love from a gentle giant!

Melissa...now called Yolissa, to keep with our 'Y' name tradition here at HCC has been a very pleasant addition to our herd. She came to us and our herd of 6 cows and 1 bull at the age of 6.5 and within 1 week of being here it was like she was born here! She has been very trusting and friendly with Mike and I, and quite courteous to the other 6 cows all while obtaining the status of 3rd place female rather quickly. Purchasing her has been the result of several years of searching to carry on Yo-yo K004 and Sherpa's H100 combined bloodline. Sherpa was our first bull of 14 years (died in 2012) and was extremely kind and gentle (his lines are still well sought after today). Though hard to trace, IYAK believes his lines go back to LDR Crown Royal C002...the second yak ever registered with IYAK! Yo-yo made it to 19 yrs. and was the last of our original 4 females yaks bought in 2001. She had been with us since 6mo. old! Yo-yo's pedigree is to die for! Full of those old bloodlines imported from Canada in the 80's. Her great grandfather is Sargent Pepper COO1...not only imported, but the very first yak registered by IYAK. So now you can see why Yolissa is such a treasure to our breeding program, we now have granddaughters to all 5 of Sherpa's 'wives' that can be bred to our current (gorgeous) bull Thor Y052. We are combining the older large/taller lines with that of the newer more compact lines with more fiber. The best of both worlds! My 20 yr. breeding program is now complete. You would not believe the gorgeous, friendly babies Yolissa and Thor produce. Thanks Brad and Mary Jo for making this dream a reality.

Yania Twain was born here 3/25/25 to our treasured mama Melissa (aka Yolissa) Z053. Yolissa is a granddaughter of our famous herd bull Sherpa H100 (who we lost at 14 in 2012). Sherpa was known to be very tame and gentle, and he passed that on to all his calves like Yobama who is the sire to Yolissa. We still get calls today from people looking for the 'Sherpa line'.

Yania is a good-looking Native Trim and bigger than the others, she enjoys being petted and scratched and will seek us out for attention. She will be registered with WHYC just like her sire Thor YO52 and his dam Melissa Z053. The World Heritage Yak Conservancy is dedicated to preserving, promoting, and protecting the heritage yak, a critically endangered breed in North America.

Our goal here at HCC is to only breed and produce the true 'pure' yak, as we have for 24 yrs. No hybrids, no inbreeding, Yania Twain will make an excellent Foundation breeding cow for the serious yak rancher dedicated to the breed. She is weaned, wormed, vaccinated and ready to go. We can create starter herds with the help of local ranchers, and will deliver for free within a 150mile radius, please call or email for more info on Yania.

Note, we have more heifers to go with Yania and I know of several other registerable heifers from other ranchers too!
