Great Western Alpaca Show

We are excited to be going to Denver next week to participate in the Great Western Alpaca Show/Rocky Mountain Alpaca Showcase - a double show - to be held 4/28-4/30/23. We have not both been to a show since 2017 when we attended this same show.
We are taking 8 of our boys. 5 are 6 and 7 months old, 1 is 2 and the other 2 are almost 3 years old. We will be participating in several classes.
First will be Walking Fleece. This has your alpaca walking to a fiber judge who will judge the fiber on the alpaca as it is standing in front of him/her. They will be awarded points on staple length of the fiber, consistency thru out. Of course, the highest scores win ribbons for 1-6th place.
Next, all will be participating in the halter shows. In this event, by age/sex/color, they walk into the ring in front of the judge. They are judged on conformation, fiber, ears and teeth are checked. Also they are checked to be sure that all their male and female genitalia is correct size for their age.
We 6 males entered into the Get of Sire competition. 3 alpacas with the same sire (can be either sex and age) are judged individually against each other to see that the traits they are showing are consistent in each of them.. The sire will be the one to get the ribbon. We have 3 males entered for Alpaca Palace's Zinger and 3 for Sawdust's Almond Thunder.
Then we have 4 males entered into a competition called Produce of Dam. This requires 2 alpacas from the same dam (can be either sex but must be 1 year apart). We have 2 from Snowmass Illuminescense and 2 from Zora that we have entered.
Finally, we have been moved to a class called Bred and Owned. This is where 3 alpacas of the same sire are entered. They can be from different dams. The requirement here is that you must have owned both the sire and the dam when the breeding ocurred.
