Baby Encounter
We held our baby encounter today and thankfully, it was cloudy and not as hot. The animals were very enthusiastic to be handfed and gathered around everyone to do so. People kept coming back for more feed cups. This year's babies are amazing and probably some of the best born on our farm. I say that every year but they just keep getting better and better. We have a Protocol son who is gorgeous and if he stays that way, will probably replace Protocol in our herd. He is a dark fawn with curls to die for. His body conformation is spot on. He is very nosy and has to be right where we are all the time we are out there. While checking other crias he is nibbling on our pant leg or shirt sleeve and doesn't chase away. His name is Kerchak. Our last cria born was out of Sammie, who is a Futurity Champion we purchased from Irish Meadows a few years ago and Protocol. She is every bit as wonderful as her mom is and we expect good things from her. All 4 of the babies so far are just beautiful! We had a good turnout, steady but not crowded so Royce and I could handle the day ourselves. I am so impressed with the people that come to see our animals. They are all very respectful of us and the alpacas. We just started baby watch again as we have animals due the end of next month and 1st of September. Been a very hot, busy summer.
