We just love humming along.
It is with deep sorrow that I announce the death of Miss Sue Overturf. Her obituary may be found at

Deb fell in love with alpacas when she moved to Ohio in 1999. Her kids grew up showing alpacas, goats, and turkeys. Miss Sue grew up in 4-H and lives on her family farm. We love to share our alpacas with 4-Hers and their families. You can see us in the ring at the Ohio State Fair and the Hartford Fair. Deb and Sue are part of the FAC for the Delaware County Fair. Alpacas make us happy!
Llama and Alpaca Agisting (Boarding)
Agisting (Boarding) $3.00 per day. Crias by dam’s side are free until 90 days old. Regular care such as feed, deworming, regular vaccinations, supervision of pregnancy, routine cria care and toenail trimming are included in the daily boarding fee. All veterinary and shearing fees are at the owner’s expense. 1 month free board after a purchase.
Alpaca 4-H Leasing
Soft Hearts Alpaca Farm, leases alpacas to 4-H members from May 1 to September 30 (153 days) for $2 a day. We can also assist you with leasing a llama from another advisor.
Boarding at our farm is an additional $1 a day. If you care for the animal on your farm, you must provide hay, feed, shelter and health needs (toenail trimming, worming when needed, and other regular needs) according to our standards. Alpacas are herd animals, so there must be at least two on your property.
Animals boarded at Soft Hearts should be worked with for about an hour at least twice a week. During the summer, training will be scheduled early in the morning (6AM - 9AM) or late (7PM - 9PM) in the evening. No training will occur in temperatures over 85F. Performance training will not happen over 80F. Training at our farm 3 times a week is included in the boarding fee. Parents are encouraged to attend training sessions.
Soft Hearts Alpacas are shown at the Ohio State Fair, Hartford Fair and the Delaware County Fair. Show fees are the responsibility of the exhibitor. Ms Bergmann will assist with transportation. Show participation is subject to an alpaca owner’s permission. That permission will not be given if the handler does not have appropriate control of their animal or a plan for the care of the animal whilst it is off the farm.
Alpacas are trained for Showmanship, Obstacle, Pack, Public Relations and Costume classes. Clinics will be given over the summer to help exhibitors prepare and train for competition.
Ohio’s Equine Activity Statute is found in the Ohio Revised Code 2305.321. In Ohio, zebras and alpacas qualify as “equines” under this statute. This statute states:[A]n equine activity sponsor, equine activity participant, equine professional, veterinarian, farrier, or other person is not liable in damages in a tort or other civil action for harm that an equine activity participant allegedly sustains during an equine activity and that results
