Creating the harmony that makes it all possible...

Sometimes, as in right before feeding time, the "harmony" is more like an out-of-step marching band - loud and incessant! It doesn't last long and my favorite moments are just after feeding, breathing in the sunrise/sunset and the adorably content animals. Here's how this all works together on our farm:

Farm Practices: Pasture is prioritized, ensuring all possible nutritional benefits for both our animals and the products we produce. We use pasture rotation, lespedeza, occasional dry lots, and herbals to break the parasite cycle. Chemical wormers have not been used since 2023, and in that year it was very light use for only a few does. Each generation away from conventional practices has improved hardiness.

Mini Nubians and Kunekune: By sharing pasture the parasite cycle is broken, as well as more even consumption of what is available in the pasture to eat. Each species has different "favorites". This has resulted in much less need to mow, which is important when you borrow your landlords 1953 FarmAll to do the job! Kunekune love the extra milk produced by the Mini Nubians. We feed very little grain to the kunekune when milk, eggs (cooked), and extra vegetables from the garden are available.

Welcome to Babka Farms!

Our journey to traditional healthy living has been filled with much joy due to our discovery of quality breeds such as Mini Nubian dairy goats and our sociable, grass grazing Kunekune. At Babka Farms we raise our animals on organic feed with natural methods. Pasture is key for the beneficial nutrients in the products we produce. We have learned much and take pride in the health and vitality we are building in our herd. Enjoy your time on our website and contact us if you'd like to share and discuss this wonderful life!
