Welcome to Brandsma Farm dba Sugar Pike Alpacas

We are Kim Brandsma & Robert (Bob) Brandsma. Our jouney into farming, goats and Alpacas was NOT the most romantic one. We originally were looking for a tax break and someone said buy a farm. However, a farm has to be a REAL working farm to qualify. We have always loved animals so, we found a small farm that we loved and then we needed to decide what animals to put on this real working farm, Sooooo..... my husband chose to research Myotonic (fainting) goats while I chose to research Alpacas. We purchased 7 Fainting goats first and they are adorable! Then we visited an Alpacas farm in Virginia....

THIS IS WHERE OUR REAL LOVE STORY BEGAN! We fell in love with the graceful beauty of the Alpacas. The rest is history... our farm was born and we purchased our first 7 female Alpacas. It was so hard waiting for them to come home. Then, shortly after those 7 arrived, we purchased 6 more....we started showing the Alpacas and learning about fiber, breeding, showing and how to improve the fiber through the use of the tools available to Alpaca breeders. Tools like EPD's, Histograms and Genotyping. So many new things to learn.

We now have several Amazing Herdsire's available for Stud Service. I am still working on the marketing pages for them so hang in there. Don't hesitate to call me or text me about one of our males for stud service. Kim (678)986-4225.

Our background:
My husband has a background as an owner/operator of a Christmas Tree Farm in New Jersey. Other than that, he's had many lives and careers including his currernt job as a the owner of a Consulting company in construction utilities. His past careers include: law enforcement, homocide detective, paramedic, truck driver, Electrician and more. He is to say the least, a multi-faceted and talented fellow. I lived and worked on a farm in my childhood and young adulthood but only with the usual cows, chickens and pigs. My past careers include being a paralegal & photographer. Since 2007 I am a licensed Real Estate Agent. I own my own brokerage. We also just sold our restaurant in Canton, Georgia called The Union Hill Bar & Grill.

We recently purchased additional attached land which gives us the opportunity to add more Alpaca housing and a 5 bedroom farm house to Air BnB. Look for that information in the near future.

This is an exciting business to be in. We look forward to the future and to getting to know and assist our new Alpaca breeders as well as continue to mentor and assist our previous clients.

Once the new Cria arrive in Spring and some in Fall. We will evaluate them and put up some for sale. We will sell some of our best as our goal is to improve the fiber as much as possible for the industry while improving the conformation for shows. Looking forward to working with you! Kim & Bob
