My She Was Yarn Alpacas is located in Arvada, CO, set against the Rocky Mountains.
MSWYA began as a “what if” conversation after visiting an alpaca farm and retail store in Maryland in 2016. The calmness of the animals and beauty of a different pace of life from a “corporate” job were certainly appealing to dream about.
In 2023, we decided to take on the risk of something new and visited several local farms, secured a mentor, found a boarding location, and formed an LLC. In November, MSWYA welcomed four female alpacas, all with EPDs in the top 10%, from Stargazer Ranch in Loveland, CO. Two of our ladies were expecting late August crias as a start to our breeding journey. We are now a herd of six with two curious male crias, Cumulus and Cardamom!
The name My She Was Yarn Alpacas is derived from a line in a favorite Katherine Hepburn movie, The Philadelphia Story.
