Welcome to Funny Farm Miniatures
We are called the Funny Farm because we are those tree hugging hippie types who dove in to farm life head first twenty years ago and the name stuck!
We have raised many different species of livestock on this 25 acres of land. But sheep and goats have long been the favs. Only recently have we fallen in love with the adorable little bantam call ducks!
Today, we are focused on livestock as pets. For many folks, having a fuzzy lamb or a bouncing kid or a quirky duck is just a dream!
We aim to help facilitate that dream by bringing our years of experience to every thing that is born on our farm to making your dreams come true.
Our Babydoll sheep are a heritage breed of sheep that are original size. They are a true miniature sheep bred for small holdings to provide meat and fiber.
Todays Babydolls have a lovely high micron fleece perfect for handspinners and felters alike. These darling little sheep are friendly by nature and make great lawn ornaments! Our flock of sheep is tested, registered with the BSRA, and health certified upon transfer.
African Pygmys are often confused with their cousins, the Nigerian Dwarf. They are not the same. Pygmy goats were developed as a pint size easily managed meat goat with their heavy short coupled bodies and little legs. The Nigerians are a taller, slender milking goat of a small size for family use.
Todays pygmys are primarily a companion animal. And they are good at their job! Our herd of goats don't disappoint - they are the best fun to watch pronking and playing on anything and everything! Our goats are perhaps unusual in that they participate in pack goat events by going through obstacle courses and go hiking with us. They are a big hit on the trail! Our herd is tested, registered with the NPGA and health certificate upon transfer.
Call ducks have an interesting history... they too were bred specifically to be small and LOUD! They were used as live decoys in the Netherlands to lure other ducks in to the pond be hunted. Luckily todays call ducks are bred for their beautiful colors and small size making them the perfect house duck! Yes, many folks keep ducks in diapers that live in the house for safety. These tiny little waterfowl are vulnerable to predators from under ground rats to ariel attacks by hawks and even stealthy night time assaults by owls or weasels. So these babies are truly a fragile pet and should be kept in a fortified duck yard livin the dream!
We are happy to chat with you about your special new friend.
