Welcome to Webb's Wold Woolies - Valais
When we found our 10 acre farm, we tried to come up with our own ranch name. We liked the idea of using W's because of our last name. According to some Old English dictionaries, a Wold is a wooded region, forested land, the woods; a wooded tract, forest preserve, etc. This seemed to fit our farm perfectly. I have been raising sheep since I was 8 years old. I participated in 4-H starting in 4th grade and enjoyed all 8 years until I graduated. I raised Shropshire sheep and kept the best of my breeding program over my 30 years in raising sheep. I was thrilled to use my dual purpose breed as the base for my breed up program of Valais. The Shropshire base gave us great strong conformation and good milk supply. We have fallen in love with the Valais breed and their sweet disposition. They are truly the best and cutest breed in the world.
Breeding Valais Blacknose since 2019
We have been participating in the breed up program since 2019. We are a small farm dedicated to producing healthy and quality Valais. We have used a variety of genetics including maximum point rams. We have been showing our sheep in local fairs and nationally since our first F2 ewe arrived. We enjoy sharing the breed at local events to educate the public on this lovely and gentle breed.
