Welcome to Kandy Coated Alpacas
Founded in December 2008 with one maiden alpaca, Kandy Coated Alpacas has grown to a foundation herd size of 24.
Our goal is breeding for the “Total Package”, quality fleece that has consistency and lasting fineness along with proper body confirmation of the animal.
We are working with other farms to establish a more robust and prevalent alpaca fleece textile market here in the U. S. We have begun to Co-Op with several Virginia area farms for specialty products that are handmade from alpaca fleece. In order to retain the uniqueness and one-of-a-kind nature of these products, they will be sold at small vendor events, farmers markets and craft fairs.
2018 brought some exciting changes for the business. The purchase of a second farm in North Carolina and all the work involved in setting up the new location. Updates to come!

UPDATE:
Kandy Lovelidge owner of Kandy Coated Alpacas (KCA) passed suddenly in October 2023, a loss to the Carolina Alpaca Breeders and Owners (CABO) and the industry. With the sale of the last nine Alpacas, KCA is no longer in operation.
