Farm Tours
James came to the United States from South Korea in 2010 in search of a new beginning. While looking for work, he followed his lifelong love of animals and encountered alpacas for the very first time. In that moment, these remarkable animals captured his heart, and he thought, “Someone needs to share the beauty of alpacas with others and that person should be me.”
For months, James devoted himself to learning, attending shows, auctions, seminars, and visiting farms, until he finally decided to become an alpaca breeder. With his prior business experience, our family purchased a 12-acre farm in Blaine, Washington in August 2012, and Sunny Alpacas was born.
In the early years, we focused solely on alpaca sales and stud services. But by the spring of 2024, more and more visitors were coming—often without reservations—so we opened our farm tours to the public, inviting guests to feed, pet, and walk with alpacas.
For our family, this farm has always been more than a business. It is our American Dream, a dream we live every day. Through James’s dedication and our pursuit of elite alpacas, Sunny Alpacas was ranked among the Top 10 National Fleece Producers in both 2024 and 2025 by the Alpaca Owners Association, while our animals also earned many individual awards in halter and fleece shows.
The farm is named after our daughter, Sunny. For James, it is not about himself—it is about the next generation. Our vision is not simply to build a farm, but to create an alpaca park, an estate designed to inspire and endure for the future.
Today, Sunny Alpacas welcomes guests by advance reservation on Wednesdays, Fridays, weekends, and holidays, offering everyone the chance to experience the wonder, peace, and joy that alpacas bring.
We chose Blaine for its natural beauty, its closeness to the border, and our deep love for the city. Our farm is conveniently located less than 5 minutes from I-5 and the Canadian border, just 2 hours from Seattle and only 1 hour from Vancouver, B.C. Blaine is a charming ocean-side town, home to the famous Semiahmoo Resort, the family-friendly Birch Bay, and the iconic Peace Arch.

Official Retirement Announcement
After much thought and reflection, we have decided to begin our retirement journey. This was not an easy decision, but we believe now is the right time to take this step.
We are deeply grateful for all the people, memories, and experiences that have been part of our path so far. As we move into this new chapter, we look forward to more time with family, new adventures, and enjoying life at a different rhythm.
At the same time, we would like to share some important details about this transition:
1, Our first priority is to sell all the alpacas. They are the heart of our farm, and finding the right new homes for them is the most important step in this transition.
2, At the same time, we would also prefer to sell everything together as a turnkey package — including the property, all equipment, the alpaca farm tours program, and the remaining alpacas — so that a new owner can step right in and continue the journey seamlessly. To support this, we will provide extended mentoring and guidance to ensure a smooth and successful business transition.
