FIND OUT WHAT ALPACAS ARE REALLY ABOUT!
Alpacas at Windy Hill provides consulting for new alpaca owners. Building on 26 years of hands-on experience, we are available to provide mentoring to new alpaca businesses, and education to those curious about how to get involved.
Alpacas are the ideal small farm livestock::
-produce a world class luxury fleece that is soft, warm, lightweight, hypo-allergenic and anti-microbial
-beautiful and fun to care for
-efficient users of their food
-produce manure that benefits the soil
The alpaca industry has progressed continually over the last 40+ years in improving the conformation and fleece quality of these rare and extremely valuable members of the natural fleece community. Growth has been slow toward a national fleece industry due to long gestation periods and economic downturns over the years, but we are still committed to providing the world with the most luxurious and practical natural fleece in the world.
You can find LOTS of educational material on the Alpaca Owners Association website: www.alpacainfo.com and www.surinetwork.com. Let me encourage you to read all you can and join these great service organizations.
Be sure to visit local alpaca farms. You can find them listed on the alpacainfo site by state. Each farm you visit will enhance your education as you do your research.
Also, visit our AOA Official Shows, also listed on the website. They are great fun. You will meet lots of great people and get your hands on some of the finest alpacas in the country.
Alpacas at Windy Hill provides professional mentoring and consulting resulting from 26 years of managing herds of up to 425 alpacas and working closely with veterinarians in Southern California. Although we no longer have a ranch site, there is plenty of helpful information to go around.

RAISING ALPACAS WITH OTHER SPECIES
I am often asked if alpacas can live with other animals. I found this great article on Cotton Creek Farms website, and rather than rewrite it, let me recommend it highly. https://cottoncreekfarms.com/can-i-raise-alpacas-with-other-animals/
