We are a family who use to raise full size dairy goats for over 30 years and then after our children became adults and left, we got out of the dairy goat business and started raising daylilies. Due to health problems we have cut way back on the daylilies and selling them. For health reasons and economic concerns, we decided to start raising some chickens for eggs and got back into the dairy goats. We decided on the Nigerian Dwarf because they are easier to handle than the Saanen, Alpine & LaManchas that we use to raise. Nigerians only weigh about 65 to 80 pounds full grown and produce an average of 1 1/2 quarts a day. We have found their milk to be delicious and is higher in butterfat (appox 6-7%) which makes it sweeter tasting. Wethered bucks make ideal pets. We are located in central Illinois in Shelbyville. Our foundation bloodlines are based on Lost Valley with a bit of Olson Acres, Jasper Pine, Buttin Heads, Fairlea. In 2012, my husband passed away and since then the herd has been a partnership with my daughters (Betsy Wicker & Sue Nugent) and my granddaughter (Ashley Nugent).

Farm Terms & Financing

Due to limited resources we must keep our herd small. Multiple animal purchases or performance herds may qualify for a discount. A non-refundable deposit of $100 per animal will hold the goats until you pick up and must be picked up within 14 days unless other arrangements are made. All payments not paid in cash MUST clear the bank before the animal will be allowed to leave the farm. If the buyer is completing payment at pick-up or transport, then the final payment must be made in cash. We reserve the right to refuse sale if there is reason to believe it is in the animals best interest.
