Welcome to Dark Rose Alpacas
This farm has been hiding among the trees near Slippery Rock University. We have a small family farm. We started with cattle in 1987. We got our first alpaca in 2013. A friend said I know of a nice male that needs a new home. Well, it has grown from there. We have 50 alpacas both Huacaya and Suris breeds. We are now starting to open more to the public. The Alpaca shop contains Yarns Made from our animals here on the farm. From that yarn we do have produces made from these animals.
We are starting this year with alpaca walks. this will be in the evening when the temps are cooler for the animals. This needs to be scheduled and limit of 6 per group. A nice walk through the pastures and woods on the farm. A nice walk for about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes.
We also do school visit and senior citizens organizations. WE have visited serval schools and homes and had a great time! With our visits with the younger kids, we do read with them.
We are involved with the butler county 4-H program and the slippery Rock farmer's market. we have also supported other local groups local groups.
We are working on classes for weaving and crocheting. to be offered later this summer.
