Welcome to Fruitful Acres

At Fruitful Acres we raise Nubian goats, Katahdin sheep, Salmon Faverolles chickens, Muscovy ducks and we also keep a few turkeys and guinea fowl running around for good measure. We try to raise all of our animals on as natural a diet and in as natural a way as our small acreage allows with an eye toward self-sufficiency.

We specialize in easy care, hardy, vigorous, productive breeding stock that raise their own offspring to provide meat and milk products with as little mollycoddling as possible. Dairy animals are an intensive care animal with high nutritional needs to maintain productivity, but we still expect them to provide ample milk for the offspring and in the case of our dual purpose Nubians, milk for ‘the house’ without us removing their offspring while grazing and clearing brush. Foraging ability is a trait we breed for just like good mothering and high milk and meat production. We have been working with sheep and goats since the 1990’s and we offer ongoing support to our customers and to the sheep and goat community on a regular basis.

All of our lamb and goat meat products are raised and finished on a grass/forage based diet. We carefully source non-GMO hay when pasture isn’t sufficient to meet the nutritional needs of growing lambs and kids, pregnant or lactating mothers and breeding males. We are located near Merit, between Greenville and Farmersville in Texas and we’d love to get to know you and give you a chance to ask any questions you may have about how our animals are cared for. 100% Grass/forage fed and finished lamb and goat meats are special and we’re confident you’ll love them.

Pick your new herd sire today!

A good buck will not only increase milk production in his daughters, but studies have shown that the milkiness of his genetic background can impact does he's bred to through hormones shared between the mother and his offspring while they are pregnant with his kids.
