Our Llama Lunch pairs you with a gentle, wooly companion as you trek through the stunning landscapes of Staunton State Park. Your calm hiking buddy will carry all the gear while you soak in sweeping mountain vistas, serene pine forests, and wildflower meadows.

Your 3-mile journey winds through the historic cabins of the Staunton’s homestead where your guide will share about Colorado life in the early 1900s. The trail leads through a wildflower-filled meadow where the Ute and Cheyenne lived for thousands of years. You’ll pause at the scenic Davis Ponds for a gourmet picnic lunch featuring fresh sandwiches/wraps, trail snacks, and refreshing drinks. Your experienced guides will share fascinating llama facts and local wildlife knowledge throughout this special experience.

This adventure is perfect for families and friends, photographers, and nature enthusiasts. Create lasting memories while experiencing the Rockies in true Colorado style- with a llama by your side!

DETAILS & REQUIREMENTS

AGE: 7 and up (Children must be accompanied by a paying adult)

MIN/MAX GROUP SIZE: 2-person booking minimum and 4-person maximum

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to walk and maintain balance on a lightly rugged terrain for approximately 3 miles at 8500 feet elevation with minimal elevation gain/loss.

TIME OF YEAR: Spring/Summer

WHERE: Colorado’s hidden gem- Staunton State Park: 12102 S. Elk Creek Road Pine, CO 80470, USA. It’s only about an hour from Denver!

MEETING PLACE: US 285 & Mountain View PNR ~ 11770 Old US Hwy 285 ~ Conifer, CO 80433, USA. We’ll meet here and then you can follow us in your car to Staunton State Park (about a 10 minute drive). By following us in, you won’t need to pay the entrance fee for the park.

START TIME: 9:30 AM on select weekdays

DURATION: Approximately 3-4 hours

LUNCH: Your mouthwatering picnic lunch includes:

  • Locally sourced salsa & chips

  • Fresh watermelon

  • Choice of sandwich/wrap: Caesar grilled chicken wrap, four season caprese sandwich, Italian ciabatta roll, or peanut butter and jelly sandwich

  • Locally sourced sweet kettle corn popcorn

  • Homemade vanilla bean lemonade and water. 

Dietary restrictions may not be able to be accomodated. Please inquire.

PRICE: $330 Booking fee (2-person booking minimum)

$95 Each adult/youth (ages 7 and up)

Most children ages 8 and up will be able to lead a llama and is at the discretion of the guides. 

Guide and llama gratuities are not included.

The price is the same whether or not you lead a llama or have lunch.
