Shearing Day 2014

Drying fleeces

Drying fleeces

This is the hookup!

This is the hookup!

Thanks to Sam Murphy for once again doing a wonderful job shearing our alpacas and llamas on April 19.  It was a very wet weekend and, due to the full shearing schedule, the shearing had to go on.  We were fortunate to keep our girls locked in one of the barns overnight but, as you can imagine, with all the moisture in the atmosphere, every fleece had some amount of dampness to it, and some of the boys' fleeces were soaked.

So, what do you do with wet fleece?  In this case, our friend, Dominic Manfredini and Servpro of Pender/West Onslow Counties came to our rescue.  Dominic offered us a drying trailer with two dehumidifier units, each capable of covering up to 2000 square feet of space, so we were able to dry our fleeces out in no time.  Many thanks to Dominic for thinking outside the box and coming up with this idea.  It's like the rain never even happened!
