    From Farm to Fiber

    Field Trips

    • From Farm to Fiber
    • History of the Alpaca
    • Alpaca 101

Curious about how we get the fiber from the animal to the stores? This is one class you should attend. Educational discussions will include the properties of alpaca fiber and what that means to us as consumers. After meeting some of the herd, the group will work together to clean shorn fiber by picking vegetation from the raw fiber. This group will see demonstrations of two of the many fiber working tools being used to process fiber.  The class may also weave a small tapestry to take home (one per class). We encourage students to bring items from home to incorporate in the woven tapestry. We'll send every student home with an "Alpaca Fashion" brochure as well.
