Shearing Day 4/6/2021

Alpacas and Llamas are shorn yearly since they have trouble with humidity, especially in Texas. This is a picture of happy alpacas that were shorn a day ago. These female Suri/Huacaya alpacas and Suri Llamas are hanging around in the barn due to the rain showers in the area. We have three protective Llamas for our alpacas - Bella with female alpacas; Bardo with the adult male alpacas, and Cookie Monster with the younger alpacas. During shearing Bella was so relaxed that she fell asleep three times. Bardo had his neck rubbed while he was relaxed. Cookie Monster started moaning an hour before being shorn & during his shearing.
