Description

Eilonwy is definitely ready for breeding and NOW would be an excellent time to get her bred. We would recommend Spanish Peaks Banderas at Alpaca Harmony (in the TOP 1% EPD for staple length) to put some length in her very fine (but short) fleece. She has grey in her background and Banderas is dark rose grey. I wonder what that might produce?

Eilonwy is named after Princess Eilonwy in the Chronicles of Prydain book series by Lloyd Alexander. Her name is pronounced eye-LAWN-wee.

She is the product of a line breeding between Finneana and Logan, both having the beautiful Accoyo America Diomedes as their sire. Diomedes was bought by a farm in Canada and is now deceased--a beautiful sire. Diomedes ranked in the TOP 1% in the 2013 EPD stats for all these: AFD, SDAFD, SF %F>30, MC, SDMC. Phenomenal! That means this gal has a double dose of Hemingway, Accoyo Sicuani, Hemingway-Accoyo Nautilus and Caligula! Quite the heavy genetic lineup!

Her EPD results for 2018:
TOP 17% in AFD, value — 0.982: her cria will likely have a finer fleece
TOP 13% in SDAFD, value —0.323: her cria will likely have a more uniform fiber diameter
TOP 17% in SF, value —0.991: her cria will likely have a lower spin fineness
%F>30, value —2.715, her cria will likely have a lower % of fibers greater than 30 micron
TOP 3% in MC, value 5.179: her cria will likely have a higher frequency crimp than average
SDMC, value 3.007, assesses the uniformity of curvature
%M, value —1.096, her cria will likely have a less % fiber medullation
MSL, value —5.275, her cria will likely have a shorter staple length
FW, value 0.06, her cria will likely have a bit heavier fleece weight
BW, value 0.338, her cria will likely be a bit heavier for birth weight

Eilonwy has a white star on her head. Her medium fawn blanket is solid and lightens under her belly and down her legs to light fawn with white sprinkles on her legs.

Both her dam and sire are big animals and as you can see she has a fairly large frame as well. She's ready for breeding. She has a bit jumpy personality, but we are working on it!

We are willing to let her be used in our rent-a-womb program for $60/month. We keep her here on the farm and the cria is yours! You choose the herdsire and pay for the breeding. NOTE: She cannot be used with Logan, her sire, as a service sire. Choose one of our sires with her and the breeding is free! We have just purchased Grazing Hills Bradford and he could be a great choice! Wallace is another of our sires that could be used.
