We must say, with much sadness, Dirk is no longer with us. He had a urinary blockage and had to be put down on May 11, . The vets at WSU tried valiantly to save him, but it was obvious to all that he was going downhill. The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord! Job 1:21 He was a phenomenal male.
Look at his 2018 histogram. He's TEN years old. Do you think that might mean lingering fineness? This b...

Here's one pretty, easy keeping little lady with a fleece that's SO USEABLE! She is now bred to Bradford and is due in September 2021. See their 2020 histograms! This match should give her better values for her EPD.

Here's what her 2019 EPD shows she is likely to give her cria:
Ranked 56.6% for AFD, value —.117, a lower AFD than breed average
Ranked 37.4% for SDAFD, value —.13, a more uniform fleece than average
Ranked 50.1% for Spin Fineness, value —.229, a finer SF than average

McCheyne (pronounced McShane) is a handsome little lad with a great heritage.
His 2020 histogram is quite nice!

NOTICE all those nice histograms for a guy with this color and age!
His 2019 EPD results:
Ranked 28% for AFD value —0.856, his cria will likely have a finer fleece
TOP 18% for SDAFD, value — 0.314: his cria will likely have a more uniform fiber diameter
Ranked 26.8% for SF, value —0.912: his cria will likely have a lower spin fineness
Ranked 32.9% for %F>30, value —3.365, his cria will likely have a lower % of fibers greater than 30 micron
Ranked 27% for MC, value 1.78, his cria will likely have a higher frequency crimp than average
SDMC, value 0.554, assesses the uniformity of curvature
TOP 23% for %M, value —1.94: his cria will likely have less % fiber medullation
Ranked 96% for MSL, value —4.228, his cria will likely have a shorter staple length
Ranked 81% for FW, value —0.047, his cria will likely have a bit less heavy fleece weight
BW, value —0.056, his cria will likely be a bit less for birth weight

His dam is Rhiannon, who has quite the genetic lineup: Caligula, Don Julio, Rosario, Bueno, Cloud 9 Comet (MSG). His sire, Dirk, also has an impressive background: Hemingway, Hemingway-Accoyo Nautilus, Guellermo, Michelangelo, Onyx de Mico, Caligua, Accoyo America Diomedes!

McCheyne, as you can see in the second picture with my husband, is quite small! He gained weight as a cria until he reached 40 lbs., then was stuck there for quite awhile. We had him checked for parasites, which revealed nothing. Quite a bit later, we got him checked again to find that he had the elusive Emac. Once treated for that, he continued to gain weight, but he is small. The vet said that Emac definitely could have stunted his growth. He is in great body condition at this time, so I don't think he has a parasite issue, but we will definitely check with the vets before sending him off to anyone's farm.

He has beautiful fleece and recently has become VERY interested in breeding, and has gotten several girls to go down for him. If you buy him, we will have him tested at WSU to make sure he's shooting bullets; if he's not, you are under no obligation and will be released from the sale. My guess is that he will probably make cria that are normal sized.
