Huacaya, Female, Unproven | Medium Fawn

    AOA# 35374169   D.O.B. 6/24/2014

    Sire:
    GRAZING HILLS EPHRAIM
    | AOA# 32648096  | Dark Brown, Bay Black
How do you say SIMPLY GORGEOUS?...we say EPHRAIM! From his incredible head to his toes, the coverage of fine, crimpy fleece will take your breath away. We had originally thought we would send a Diomedes daughter to Colorado to pair with Tuscan Gold, but somehow Athena drew that straw. The minute she delivered Ephraim we knew it had been the right choice. She has always produced dark offspring from light sires, but this shiny black cria was a beautiful surprise, and there were more to come.

When we sheared Ephraim as a cria, the rolling skin on his neck and chest were beyond anything we had experienced. You can see some of the rolls in the picture of him at a few weeks. It probably explains why he sheared better than a 4 pound blanket!! of 17.4 micron fleece at 10 months of age!!…and the handle…SO buttery soft! His personality is wonderful around his pen mates and our kids.

He has been getting better and better with age, and he has 4 healthy crias on the ground ON JUST OUR FARM! They have ranged from White to Dark Fawn.

We have used him for so many of our farm breedings. He continues to wow us with the density and fineness he passes down! He has over 20 cria on the ground and another 8 coming in 2019!

    Dam:
    Stirling Ridge KENZIE
    | AOA# 1023398  | White
KENZIE, at 10 years old, was used in our rent-a-womb program, bred to the beautiful bay black Grazing Hills Ephraim, and produced a beautiful medium fawn cria, Rosie. Thanks and congrats to David and Lauren for selecting one of our best girls! Kenzie delivered this cria in June 2016--her first baby girl and first colored cria. She has also produced Dirk and McTavish, our finest fleeced white boys.

    2016 EPD RESULTS:
AFD, value —.289 meaning her cria should have a finer fleece than breed average
SDAFD, value —.307, her cria should have a more uniform fleece than breed average
Spin Fineness, value —.517, her cria should have a lower SF than breed average
%F>30, value —3.704, her cria should have less micron >30 than breed average
Mean Curvature, value 3.112, her cria should have more crimp than breed average
%Medullation, value —2.106, her cria should have less medullated fiber than breed average
Fleece Weight, value +.31, her cria should have a FW heavier than breed average
She took some dings in her staple length and birthing weight values.

Kenzie's look and fiber quality (look at her fiber stats for 2015 at TEN years!) are what we like: shorter muzzle, triangular head, great histogram and fiber qualities, nice conformation. And she has a VERY calm temperament and is easy to work with, even pregnant. She'll pick up her feet and let you look in her mouth, easily. She is a beautiful animal and about as sweet an alpaca as you'll ever find. Her kids learn that nice behavior and they are as well behaved as mama is.

First cria, Dirk, was an easy delivery; second cria McTavish delivered in 8 minutes; same with baby #3, Rosie! She's a very good mama and has plenty of milk. We love this girl because she's a beauty herself and has produced some of our best cria.

Her initial histogram as a cria was AFD 14.5 with a curve factor of 35.5. Her histogram has been holding steady with fineness and consistency even at TEN years, a GREAT quality she has passed on to her two stellar sons.

Kenzie is out of our best dam, Kupcake, and my assessment is that the daughter has now surpassed the mother. With Kenzie's sire, Onyx de Mico (bay black) and his Michaelangelo/Guellermo genetics, she is one of our top-of-the-line females.

YOU might also consider our RENT-A-WOMB plan with her for her next breeding. You choose one of the many excellent studs available locally to our farm and pay the stud fee. Or use one of our studs with her at a reduced stud fee (suggest Logan). Our girl stays here on the farm and you pay her reduced monthly "rental" fee ($80/mo) until she delivers. You get to use this beautiful female to produce the cria of your choice without the expense of buying an adult female or tending her for 11 months.

    Description

Though this beautiful little cria isn't owned by our farm, she is being shown here because her dam, Kenzie, is ours. Rosebud (Rosie) is the result of using our dam in our rent-a-womb program.

David and Lauren "rented" Kenzie, chose the service sire Grazing Hills Ephraim, and the result is this pretty little female cria! (Notice her fleece!)

All of our dams can be rented. Which dam you choose determines the monthly price for her rental. You then choose the sire you would like her to be bred to and pay for the breeding. (If you use one of our herdsires you automatically get 25 to 50% off!) The dam is cared for by us and remains on our farm. The cria born the following year is yours. You can keep your cria on our farm for a reduced boarding fee. This way you can start your alpaca herd with no females, no studs, no farm!

Get a head start and choose from superb genetics. Call us for the full details or we are happy to send you a rent-a-womb contract so you can see how it works!
