This knockout brown beauty, with her excellent fleece density and striking crimp, is a true standout—not just in presence, but in pedigree, potential, and undeniable charm.

From the moment she arrived, Kandi showcased her distinct appaloosa heritage, displaying unique black and blueberry spotting along her underside and legs. But her most exciting transformation has been her newly emerging brindle patterning—a thrilling development that confirms she is a rare harlequin in the making. Watching her evolve has been nothing short of mesmerizing. Heart Kandi carries a stacked harlequin–appaloosa genetic architecture built from three powerful pattern lines: Hannahruh, Bisturi, and Victor. Her sire, Vintage Cashmere U-Taupe-ia, contributes the Hannahruh dilution complex, a system known for pigment drift, shifting fawn/grey transitions, and the ability to unlock hidden pattern alleles in offspring. Her dam, Bisturi’s Periwinkle, brings the unmistakable Bisturi grey/harlequin system, which drives mosaic melanocyte suppression, rose-grey development, and the multi-tone marbling that defines true harlequin expression. The Victor influence adds depth of color, strong eumelanin anchoring, and the capacity for dark pattern zones such as true black. Kandi’s own phenotype—white, light brown, medium brown, and true black expressed from birth—confirms that she carries a dominant harlequin allele supported by multiple dilution and pattern-amplifying modifiers. Her ability to produce patterned crias consistently, including harlequin and appaloosa offspring, demonstrates high penetrance and strong genetic reliability within her line.

Kandi was born a harlequin, and her genetics explain why. Her dad gives her the genes that make color shift and break apart, and her mom gives her the Bisturi grey/harlequin genes that make those shifts bold and dramatic. That’s why she shows multiple colors and why she reliably produces loud, beautifully patterned babies.

For Kandi's 2026 breeding we chose PBR Divine Jaguar, an appaloosa male with undeniable brightness, density, character, and striking fleece that has impressed from day one. Jaguar is the next-generation with a stronger, more penetrant pattern allele. His phenotype shows deeper dilution, more zones of melanocyte, more complex marbling and higher pattern penetrance. This means Jaguar can force pattern expression even in dams who only carry subtle or hidden pattern genetics. Jaguar inherited a more unstable pigment distribution, stronger dilution modifiers and a more chaotic melanocyte migration pattern. This creates louder pattern, more unpredictable spotting, more dramatic harlequin shifts and a higher probability of multi-zone expression.
