From the moment she arrived, Kandi revealed her appaloosa heritage, displaying black and blueberry spotting along her underside and legs. Kandi carries a stacked harlequin–appaloosa genetic architecture built from three powerhouse pattern lines: Hannahruh, Bisturi, and Victor.
Kandi’s phenotype — white, light brown, medium brown, and true black expressed from birth — confirms that she carries a dominant harlequin allele supported by multiple dilution and pattern-amplifying modifiers. Her ability to consistently produce patterned crias, including both harlequin and appaloosa, demonstrates high penetrance and exceptional genetic reliability.
Kandi was born a harlequin — and her genetics explain why.
