At Plateau Breeze Ranch, there are alpacas that impress, and then there are alpacas that steal your heart — PBR Scout’s Magical Rainbow is one of them. A dazzling young female with her sire’s unmistakable markings and her dam’s powerhouse genetics, Rainbow is as captivating as she is rare.
From the beginning, Rainbow has shown elite fleece quality: long staple, tight crimp, and a lush, buttery texture that promises exceptional fiber production. Even more extraordinary, she is a true harlequin, with evolving color zones that deepen and shift as she matures. Watching her grow is nothing short of magical — it’s no surprise she’s a ranch favorite.
Rainbow carries one of the strongest stacked pattern genotypes in our herd. On her dam’s side, she inherits the pigment-instability lines of Black Epic, NGG Lionel, and Magnifico, providing the color depth and dilution modifiers that intensify pattern expression. From her sire, Clown’s Magical Scout, she receives the dominant harlequin/appaloosa allele responsible for mosaic melanocyte suppression, shifting dilution zones, and the ability to express multiple colors — white, fawn, brown, silver grey, rose grey, and true black — all within a single fleece.
Her dam, PBR Absolut’s Black Magic Charm, does not carry the pattern allele herself, but she contributes the Lionel/Black Epic/Magnifico modifiers that make pattern expression bolder, darker, and more chaotic when the allele is inherited from the sire. Rainbow’s phenotype — white, light fawn, dark fawn, light brown, silver grey, and true black — confirms both the inheritance of Scout’s harlequin allele and the active amplification from Charm’s color-depth genetics.
