Lingering Fineness Genetics

Faeteza of Somerset Farm

Huacaya, Female, Proven | Light Fawn

AOA# 30476806   D.O.B. 6/18/2007, 7/8 Peruvian

Sire:
Followill Emilio
| AOA# 842819  | Beige  |
Sired by elite Allianza Snowmass Peruvian Highlander and grandson of both Bueno and Don Julio. This macho is not just another pretty face. He will bring substance to your breeding program. His fleece is dense with outstanding crimp and great staple length. His frame is solid and his conformation is correct. Add his quiet disposition to all of these characteristics and genetics and this boy is a complete package.

GENETIC POWERHOUSE: Sire is Snowmass Peruvian Highlander. Grandsires are Bueno and Don Julio--two of the most notable foundation herdsires in North America.

FABULOUS PHENOTYPE: Conformationally sound and correct, he exhibits a proud, strong presence. His dense fleece, fiber characteristics, crimp, and color are outstanding.

TEMPERAMENT: We believe temperament is highly inheritable and place a big emphasis on it especially in the herdsires. Emilio is a true gentle man. He is extremely easy to handle, and very well-mannered even during breeding. He passes his great disposition on to his cria.

Are you looking for a proven herdsire to step up your breeding program by adding density, consistency, and uniformity? If so then take a close look at Emilio. He offers exceptional genetics and fabulous fleece characteristics for a very reasonable investment.

Emilio progeny record is 11 females out of 14 cria.

Dam:
Paradise Ridge Chaccuna
| AOA# 832574  | Light Fawn  |
RIP Sweet Chaccuna. You are the one that started it all for us.

THE GRAND DAM
Chaccuna is the one that really jump started our light breeding program. Her direct descendants carry the same density and lingering fineness she possesses. Also, all their bites have maintained their perfection through the years.

GENETICS: Chaccuna is a 5Peruvian Chaccu daughter and PPeruvian Vengador granddaughter.

MEASURABLE FLEECE QUALITIES: This is where Chaccuna excels and what keeps her at the top of our Huacaya foundation female list. Talk about lingering fineness. At 12 years old her histogram results are note worthy: AFD 25.8, SD 4.9, CV 18.8 , SF 24.7, %>30 15.

Let' see, has this carried through to her progeny? I would say so....

Here are the results for Chaccuna's beige son (ChaccuLatte) at age seven. He is standing stud at our ranch:

ChaccuLatte's Histograms starting with the most recent at age 7:

Apr 2 2006 AFD 17.5, SD 5, CV 28.6, %>30 2.0

2013 EPD Results:

Top 3% AFD -1.877 0.425 238 of 14637
Top 3% SF -1.798 0.448 330 of 14637

Do these great traits coming down from Chaccuna pass through her offspring? The answer is yes.
Here are the "stats" for Latte's offspring:
Latte's 2009 light fawn female "Latte's Mocha Twist" 2011 histogram report: AFD 18.7, SD, 4.9, CV 26.3, %>30u 2.4 Her 2013 results as a four year old: AFD 18.8, SD 4.9, CV 25.9, SF 19.1, %>30u 2.4 Her EPD results:
Check out these EPD results at 4 years old:
Top 3% AFD -1.557 (#759 of 27776)
Top 3% SF -1.592 (#739 of 27776)
Top 4% %F>30 -5.501 (#1151 of 27776)

Latte's 2010 white female "Latte's Kizmet" is an absolute knock-out. Her fleece is exhibiting all of Latte's positive characteristics...high frequency and amplitude and dense with tight bundling. Her 2011 histogram report: AFD 17.6, SD 4.6, CV 25.9, %>30u 1.5

Latte's 2012 light fawn male is the "spitten image" of his sire. Absolutely gorgeous fiber...fine, high frequency and amplitude with tight bundling.

Description

Look at this genetic combination...Grandsire 5Peruvian Chaccu, GGrandsires Peruvian Don Julio, Peruvian Bueno, and PPeruvian Vengador.

Look at the result of breeding our best fleece production foundation female to our densest and heaviest fleece producing herdsire. Faeteza's feece is dense and bundled...check out the picture on the right.

What you are looking at is a complete package...great genetics, solid conformation, pleasing phenotype, excellent proportions and balance, desirable fleece architecture and structure, density, bundling, and excellent staple length. If it sounds like this girl has it all she does...plus an excellent temperament.

We had great expectations Faeteza (AKA Teza) would contribute the same qualties to our breeding program as her dam Paradise Ridge Chaccuna. And did she ever...easy breeder, easy birth, plenty of milk.

Faeteza has produced two outstanding cria for us. Both exhibiting exceptional density and fineness. When bred to a herdsire with lingering fineness the results have been fine and uniform fleece.

LINGERING FINENESS COMING FROM HER DAM AND EXHIBITED IN HER HALF BROTHERS Following is the description of her dam's measurable fleece qualities...the potential is there.

MEASURABLE FLEECE QUALITIES: This is where Chaccuna (Teza's dam) excels and what keeps her at the top of our Huacaya foundation female list. Talk about lingering fineness. At 12 years old her histogram results are note worthy: AFD 25.8, SD 4.9, CV 18.8 , SF 24.7, %>30 15. At 12 years old her EPD results show it is predicted she will reduce the AFD by -0.0938 And it doesn't stop there. Her daughter Faeteza is shown to reduce AFD by -0.425. Here are the results for Chaccuna's seven year old son beige son (ChaccuLatte) we have standing at our ranch:
2013 EPD Results:
Top 1% %F>30 -8.246 0.453 77 of 14637
Top 3% AFD -1.877 0.425 238 of 14637
Top 3% SF -1.798 0.448 330 of 14637

Teza comes with a breedback (for her or any of your females) to any Alpacas of Somerset Farm herdsire.
