Alpacas of Somerset Farm was created in our hearts in 1978 when we moved to the beautiful Sierra Nevada foothills. As Dianna's retirement approached we began searching for a business that would allow us to enjoy the country lifestyle, utilize the tax advantages that come along with owning acreage in an agricultural area, and provide an income. Combined with our love of animals, raising alpacas more than fit the requirements. In March 2005, Alpacas of Somerset Farm was established with the purchase of our first foundation female.
Through the years we focused on producing and offering quality breeding stock. We are tireless students and from the first year of owning alpacas we have attended or participated in alpaca focused education. We enjoy participating in alpaca shows...not just to be around alpacas but to interact with other alpaca breeders.
A couple of years ago we made the decision to change our focus on breeding and selling to offering ranch tours which include a visit to our store specializing in products created from alpaca fiber. Sharing these amazing animals with others has brought a new dimension to our life with alpacas.
