Red Granites Sting By Alydar is a stunning roan fleeced male with a unique lineage. This is the second Alydar progeny offered at auction and this one is once again line-bred off of Snowmass MR Sizlin Rose (Herdsire of the Year winner), but what makes Sting different is he has a double dose of the late Kirwin and comes from one of our favorite maternal lines, making him a very special offering indeed (COI 7.1%)

If you breed color we want you to take a look at this young male because his lineage contains the best names for producing elite fleeced colored huacayas, not only the best of Red Granite Ranch but also the best of other programs: Crescent Moon & Snowmass. Look closely at each animal on his maternal & paternal lines and see firsthand why we love him.

The maternal great grand dam of Sting is Snowmass Sunset Dreams, one of the most influential foundation dams that we purchased many, many years ago. Despite being of lighter coloring she has produced incredible bay blacks and fawns. Her pedigree dates back to the "Ambrosian" line of Snowmass, which Happy Hound Alpacas has acquired and has on a tight lock. Sunset Dream's daughters have gone on to produce incredible offspring, Red Granites Sizlin Sunrise being one of them. She is a True Black Color Champion Female and is the daughter of Snowmass MR Sizlin Rose. She maintains a low micron despite her current age, but she remains a solid favorite. This is a trait that is extremely common on both sides of Sting's pedigree: longevity of fineness & uniformity.

Paternally via Red Granites Alydar (Herdsire of the Year Winner), we see Crescent Moon's Thelonius, Kirwin (again), Snowmass Conopa XXX, Snowmass Matrix (Herdsire of the Year winner), Snowmass MR Sizlin Rose (again, Herdsire of the Year Winner) and Red Granites Val D Lsere (Herdsire of the Year winner). A yummy cross of genetics again...

Phenotypically this male checks all the boxes. He is very true-to-type with excellent coverage from head to toe. He has great size and bone for his age as well. When looking at his fleece you will make you want more of his color. Extremely uniform between the varying colors and uniform in microns across his blanket. His high-frequency & high-amplitude fleece style is locked in from his pedigree, and you can expect to see it on his future crias as well.
