Link

SaanseyBuck (male)Gold
DOB: 9/29/20196 yrs
Link is a hugely appreciated buck from Treasured Sunrise Acres in Parma, Idaho. She was willing to cross a few of her prize Saanen does with wonderful Guernsey bucks to create my second and third generations of Saanseys. Link is a tall, powerful POLLED buck with intelligence and poise. He's a big boy and is more assertive than Timbre, but still pretty easy to handle and doesn't try to break stuff. I'll be using Link sparingly until I get a really nice son out of him to be my herd sire for 3rd generation babies.

Klae

Klae

SaanseyDoe (female)Gold
DOB: 5/26/20197 yrs
Klae has quickly become one of my favorite goats of all time. It's hard to get the package of good looks, solid milk production, and an affectionate mellow personality all in one... But she has it all in spades, and I could not be more happy with her. Klae hit the lottery by getting her mama's correct conformation and dairy strength, combined with her sire's eternal gentleness and tranquility. She is patient when waiting for her grain, steady on the milk stand, and always quietly affectionate. If she thinks I'm taking too long to feed her, she'll catch my eye firmly and then look at her feeder... No fuss, just a reminder that she is hungry and I should hurry up. Milking her is a BREEZE. Her teats are the perfect size, shape and placement. The orifices are large, and she lets her milk down without hesitation. No bumping or massaging needed with this girl, you just milk until she's empty and that's that. I don't milk often (that's usually mom's chore), but I can get Klae from full to empty in less than a minute... Last year, as a first freshener during one of the hottest summers on record, she fluctuated in her production, giving anywhere between 5 and 8.5lbs a day. This year at 4 weeks fresh she hit 12lb (a gallon and a half!) a day, and has settled into a groove at right around 11lb. **Klae didn't settle for three straight seasons, despite everything I tried. It was devastating... Nice to know that she can do an extended lactation though! 3 years years in and she was still producing 3 quarts a day. Eventually I had to sell her though. Really sucked. side note. One of my favorite things about Klae, which is something that's not normally talked about, is how wonderful of a herd queen she is. There is always a herd queen, and it's usually the roughest goat in the barn. But Klae is a truly reasonable queen. If someone encroaches on "her space" in the manger, she'll toss her head and stomp her feet, then back out of the space and bump them with the side of her head a couple times. If the other goat doesn't listen, Klae will back up give her a good wallop, but never EVER without multiple warnings. And she treats all of the goats the exact same, never picking on the little ones. She is the fairest herd leader that I could ever ask for.

A handsome polled boy out of my best doe, who could ask for more!
Well, I do. I also want a spectacular personality, and this guy has it in spades. Even in rut I can handle him with one finger hooked through his collar.
He never tries to force his way through gates, but the second I clip on a leash he trots right through. Once his job is done it just takes a couple firm tugs and he follows me back home.
He's respectful to the ladies and doesn't hound does that won't stand for him.
He's also (out of rut) very kind to smaller bucks that live with him. Once in rut he'll pound them of course, but during spring and summer he gets along with absolutely everybody.
I've probably had a couple hundred bucks over the years, and Bravo is my second favorite of all time.

Another great thing about him, is how well he does living on forage. He's smart and athletic despite his size, and gets fat every summer on blackberries.
My other favorite thing is that he's soooo quiet. If Bravo calls to me, he's letting me know that his pasture is out of food and he needs to be moved. Besides calling to girls in heat, it's the only noise he ever makes.

I almost sold him last year to keep his son out of Fern, but couldn't bring myself to do it. He's the sweetest, smartest boy and I love him.

**I had a friend come over with a doe that didn't want to stand for Bravo. He would follow her around and flirt, she'd tell him to shove off, and he would just stop... Made my friend wonder if he had low drive, but trust me, that isn't it. He's just an actually respectful buck... Eventually she stood, and he got the job done!
