Jaden and Jasper
Jaden came to Open Farm Days and fell in love with alpacas. She is very excited about being able to have alpacas for 4-H and wants to volunteer at Double D Alpaca Ranch to learn more. Jaden's family has horses, cats, dogs, chickens and she has experience raising a pig for 4-H. She likes the idea of having a 4-H animal that does not have to be slaughtered. Jaden's first visit to help out at the farm was this Wednesday when she helped halter train a huacaya that agists with us. She has a natural w read more...

Our little Zapata did not make it. He was so beautiful and we had so much hope for him. Although we know that the second twin rarely lives, we were most hopeful. Fragile Circle "We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understandin read more...

Well our very last pregnancy of the year resulted in twins. We were beginning to wonder if Kontikki was really pregnant since she was due two weeks ago. We had some difficulty getting her pregnant last summer so we decided to field breed her to Torbio's Don Mateus and it took. Friday morning, Dave headed out to go pheasant hunting at the crack of dawn and I was extremely busy putting the finishing touches on the store for National Alpaca Farm Days. I had to dash to Walla Walla to get read more...

Dave troweling the floor
It finally cooled off enough to order concrete out to pour the vet room floor. The truck arrived at 6 a.m. and every thing went very well. Dave used the tractor bucket to get the concrete into the forms inside the barn. We ordered the concrete from Koncrete Industries and the driver was very helpful. It was just the two of us doing the work and he stepped in when we needed a little extra help. It will be so nice to have a new vet room with running water, a refrigerator and all of our supplies in read more...
Great job, Dave!
