ABOUT THE BREED

THE AMERICAN CASHMERE GOAT
When looking at goats, we always find this distinction: Is it a cashmere goat? Or is it a goat with cashmere? Many goats have cashmere, across many breeds. The true cashmere breeder will selectively breed for cashmere and follow the North American Cashmere Goat Standard.

HISTORY OF ORIGINS
There are two main origins of the American Cashmere Goat. One comes from Australia and the other from Spanish goats. Australian goats tend to have shorter, more erect ears and a smaller body type. Spanish will have longer ears and follow the characteristics of a Spanish goat. Our herd is drawn from Australian lines with direct imports in the 1990s. We believe the Australian lines have contributed to the quality of our current stock and will continue to develop these lines.

NORDIC HORN BREEDING STOCK
Our stock has been carefully bred and all attributes recorded. When you purchase from Nordic Horn you are assured of a distinct line.
All of our goats come with:
• Pedigrees, with lineage as far back as 1991 in some cases
• Data representing the animal’s historic lineage of fiber color, length, and show winnings
• Pictures of the sire and dam
• Detailed report with dates of every vaccination, hoof trim, or medical care given
• Background of cashmere lines showing which breeders individual stock originated from
• Official microchip identification approved by USDA APHIS
• Cashmere Goat Association database entry (see full registration information)

BREEDINGS
Our cashmere kids are expected between March and June. We currently have a waitlist for doelings. Bucklings and wethers in any color may be available.

Babies will be available for pick up 8-10 weeks after their birth date. We offer a wide pick up window of six months. We sell across the country and we know it can take some time to work out transport.

To check availability and make a reservation for an available goat, please email us.

TRANSPORT
We can provide direct transport with our custom goat stock trailer to anywhere in the continental U.S. Please let us know if you are interested in this farm to farm service and we will give you a quote.
